The RMA Network is a group of independent livestock and property agents throughout Australia. Training and development is a significant part of the service the network provides to its membership: a multitude of courses around livestock and rural property sales is offered.The RMA Network had found its members were getting their HR advice predominantly from their accountants.However, accountants are not dealing with HR matters 100% of the time, so their advice may not have been current,and the only time they got involved was after a problem had already occurred. Most people employed in the livestock industry aren’t covered under a specific award, so it is a complex area.
‘We saw a need to support our members by providing HR-specific training focused on preventing problems occurring in the first instance,’ said General Manager, Michael O’Brien.‘Pinnacle People Solutions was engaged to develop and deliver a customised series of training and information courses that would provide information and structure around the fundamentals of HR, recruitment advertising,and guidance on putting effective procedures and protocols in place for our small business members.’

The course structure was put together from scratch by Pinnacle People Solutions.The process was highly collaborative and the curriculum tailored to meet the unique needs of the RMA Network.
Pinnacle People Solutions also produced HR fundamentals manuals in both hard and soft copy format for each of the member participants. Pinnacle People Solutions travelled the breadth of New South Wales,from Tenterfield to Yass, and all points in between, delivering three training sessions at each venue to 10 or 12 RMA Network members at a time. ‘The small class sizes meant network members could really concentrate in the session and had an opportunity to fully participate and provide feedback.Our sessions were designed to encourage engagement,and this was done very well,’ said Michael
